Vista Sound Source Tutorial

Recording Music on Vista!

Vista might come configured with the Mix sound source disabled.    Some sound drivers enable it automatically, others don't.    Follow these steps to enable the Stereo Mix source.



1.0 Prepare Vista for Sound Recording

Open the Vista Control Panel.

Click on the green "Hardware and Sound" header (see example).

You should now be at the "Hardware and Sound" panel.

Click on the green "Sound" header (see example).

Once the "Sound" panel opens, click the "Recording" tab along the top.

If you can't find "Stereo Mix" (or "Mix", or "Mono Mix", etc....), right click in the empty background somewhere and select "Show Disabled Devices".

Scroll down until "Stereo Mix" (or "Mix", or "Mono Mix", etc....) is visible.

Select the "Mix" sound source, and Right click.

In the menu, select "Enable".   You can enable other disabled sources here if you like.

Restart MySkit and the "Mix" source should be available for recording.
