PLEO LifeOS 1.1 Notes

UGOBE made significant updates to the PLEO firmware in their v1.1 release.   Unfortunately, it is no longer compatible with older PLEO personalities (*.urf files).

However, all is not lost!   The latest MySkit can make newer compatible *.urf files.

Simply rewrite your skits to the SD card, and they'll work with both old and new PLEO firmware.

A couple notes:

  1. What happens if I don't do anything?   PLEO LifeOS 1.1 just ignores older pleo.urf files.   He'll start his normal personality.  No harm done.
  2. After I rewrite my SD card, will it work on older PLEO's?   Yes!   MySkit writes -two- *.urf files now.   One for people using the old firmware (pleo.urf), and one for those using the new (pleo1.urf).
  3. Can I still share my *.urf file?    Yes, but make sure to send both *.urf files (pleo.urf & pleo1.urf).   You'll never know if people have the updated firmware or not.

Let's get started!

1.0 Select Action Directory

(1
Start MySkit & close any open skits.

Click on the toolbar "Write" button.

(2

Now select the "action directory" on your PC, where you've collected everything for your PLEO personality.

The picture (see right) shows selecting the Examples folder included with MySkit.

)

If you've only one skit, you're done.  MySkit skips to the next section.   Your skit automatically plays when Pleo is turned on.

However, if you've multiple skits, then PMap starts.   Any assignments you made previously should still be there.

You can make more tweaks, or just click "OK" to continue.

2.0 Writing the Flash Card

(1)
MySkit compiles your action directory, and writes it to the flash card.

The files are larger now, so this might take a bit longer than before.

(2)
Once MySkit displays "Done!" the flash card is ready.

If an error occurred instead, click on the "View Log" button to see what happened.

Otherwise, click "OK" to close the dialog.

(3) Turn off PLEO and insert your flash card.   Turn him back on and enjoy!

To restore PLEO's original personality, turn him off and remove the flash card.   He'll be his original self unchanged when powered back on.

Congratulations!
